Who knew something by Norman Rockwell would go for 22.6 million bucks? I mean, I've heard his name before, but I thought America was kind of over him? What with all the wholesome crap he did? I guess not. Not that I know anything about art or even like art, but still. A painting of Ted Williams and the Boston Red Sox locker room would have been fun to have. Now I'm sad. Anyone know another arty thing I can buy to cheer me up so I can feel like I'm a person who buys arty things?

On the contrary, I will totally buy a million dollar painting you pick out! It just needs to be one with more... color.

I am pretty sure I have seen people selling paintings on the street in New York.

Are you saying you want me to buy a street painting? Like a tourist?

If I say no am I going to get in trouble?

From: [identity profile] x-dagger.livejournal.com
No. Not many people have. He is a rather famous anonymous street artist who does a lot of work on the streets of London. Thinking graffiti artist on buildings but less tagging gang names and more artworks that actually mean something. Usually they are pretty political other times they are just simply works of art.

Anyways, I heard that he once set up shop here in New York where he had his paintings for sell for 20 bucks. However, people thought it was counterfeit. He only sold two paintings. Later he confirmed what he did and those two people now have million dollar paintings. I would recommended us seeing "Exit Through the Gift Shop" it is a documentary about a guy who wants to get into the world of street art and Banksy is one of the guys he meets.

I am saying don't judge artworks. They could be a lot of money.

Date: 2014-05-26 04:26 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-adrienne.livejournal.com
But... but... I'm not judging them on if they're fake or how much they're worth... I'm just judging them on if I think they're pretty! Are you saying I should buy something ugly cuz it could be worth a lot of money?

It was sixty dollars, and he sold several pieces over the course of four hours, each of which may or may not be worth in the tens of thousands of dollars, not the millions.

It is under debate if it was the person suspected to be Banksy, or someone he/they hired on to make the sales. it is also under debate as to if Banksy is one person - perhaps with mutant gifts - or an art collective, given how many of his/their pieces seem to require collaboration to extreme degrees.

...Did you put a moosehead in my suite?!?! Come on! The one in your suite is ugly enough!

From: [identity profile] x-dominion.livejournal.com
Kyle is doing some work on my room. Apparently there's some water damage in the wall that he wants to clear up now that it's warm. So, I needed someplace to put the moosehead.

Also, the cat found it and your room in about fifteen minutes and is now sleeping on it.

Can you also ask him to pour concrete around the suite so we can stop that damned cat from getting in?

Wait, it's in MY suite now?! FUCK! Does that cat think the moose is its mother or something?!?!
